Votes at a glance: House advances multiple Senate and House measures, including consent calendar items
Summary
On Feb. 1 the House took up a large third-reading and consent calendar and approved numerous measures on a largely unanimous basis, including committee reports, insurance and Medicaid changes, election law cleanups, and resolutions to authorize in-session employee pay.
The Utah House cleared a batch of third-reading and consent items on Feb. 1, voting on committee reports, consent-calendar bills and several Senate measures sent to the House for concurrence.
Key outcomes included: First Substitute House Bill 224 (retirement-system participation) passed 63–0; House Bill 308 (insurance policy and contract law amendments) passed 71–0; House Bill 105 (Medicaid generic drug reimbursement amendments) passed 72–0; Senate Joint Resolution 6 (compensation for in-session employees) passed 73–0; Senate Bills 9, 10, 11, 12, 21, 23, 25, 26, 30, 53, 108 and others were considered and passed or otherwise advanced as recorded on the floor. Several bills were amended on the floor (for example, SB12’s notice period was amended from 14 days to 3 days), and a small number of measures were circled for later action (SB47 and SB115, and substitute HB87).
Many of these items were routine committee reports or technical cleanups. When members raised concerns, floor sponsors provided clarifications or friendly amendments. The House recessed at the close of morning business and planned to return for afternoon session work.
