At the conclusion of floor business on Dec. 4, 2006, members of the Utah House used personal privilege time to thank legislative staff for their work on the redistricting process and to offer retirement and farewell remarks.
Representative Dougal, a redistricting committee member, asked the House to acknowledge staff for long hours and holiday work. Several members, including Representatives Cox and Hogue, offered personal reflections on their service and expressed appreciation to colleagues.
The House also adopted motions authorizing the Speaker to appoint committees to wait upon the Senate and the governor and inform them that the House had completed its business and was prepared to adjourn. The Speaker announced appointees (including Representatives Barriss, Newbold, Seelig, Morley, Oda and Litbank) and noted the Senate had not acted on a House bill that could require additional coordination before final adjournment.
The House adjournment authorization passed by voice votes and the Speaker named the designees who will carry the message to the other chambers and the governor's office.
