Votes at a glance: key bills the House approved on its 40th day
Summary
On the House floor the same day the body approved multiple third‑reading items and consent-calendar bills. In addition to the measures described in depth, the House approved election-law changes, professional-practice and licensing updates, nursing-compact additions, and other technical bills; most passed with large majorities or unanimously.
The Utah House moved through its Senate third-reading calendar and consent calendar and recorded votes on several items:
- Senate Bill 241 (Election law modifications): passed as amended (71–0). Changes included counting absentee ballots before the canvass, restricting candidate name changes after filing, and moving a primary timeline.

- Several consent items were approved with minimal debate or unanimous support: Senate Bill 197 (local initiative ballot titles), SB 227 (Utah Fire Prevention Board amendments), SB 203 (disclosure of property tax information), SB 101 (Credit Services Organization Act changes), HBJR 13 (working families economic development initiative), SB 101, SB 166 (notary public amendments), SB 45 (nursing compact amendments), SB 83 (acupuncture licensing), SB 193 (mental health professional practice act), and more. Vote tallies recorded in the transcript show many passed unanimously or with strong margins.
- Senate Bill 167 (Utah Sports Authority), SB 199 (division of real estate substitute), SB 228 (compensation), SB 271 (solid and hazardous waste) and other bills received recorded votes; each bill will be forwarded to the Senate after the Speaker’s signature as required.
