House passes measure to designate May as State Water Week
Summary

The Utah House approved House Bill 20 on Jan. 16 to designate May as State Water Week, a sponsor said.
Representative Becker, the bill’s sponsor, said the concept was considered and approved by the Water Issues Task Force and the Natural Resources, Agriculture and Environment Interim Committee and that partners including the Division of Water Resources, water districts, KUED and university-affiliated networks helped develop the proposal. Becker characterized the bill as a recognition of the importance of water to the state and said it is straightforward.
“There was a chance to...acknowledge the importance of water for our state,” Becker said, describing the bill’s intent.
With summation waived and no floor debate recorded, the House voted; HB 20 passed with a recorded tally of 68 yes and 0 no and will be sent to the Senate.
