House fixes routing of vehicle-registration fee revenue — SB1003 passes 68–4

Representative Garn, the House sponsor, told colleagues that the prior session doubled the vehicle-registration fee and that about $600,000 of the revenue was placed in the Transportation Fund rather than the Transportation Investment Fund. "The difference between those 2 funds is the Transportation Investment Fund is a State Fund and all monies go to State projects," Garn said, arguing the bill corrects the technical error so the revenue will support state transportation projects as intended.
Summation was waived and the House voted, with the clerk reporting 68 yes and 4 no. The enrolled bill will be signed by the Speaker and returned to the Senate for the President's signature.
