House introduces lengthy slate of bills and refers them to Rules Committee

At the Jan. 26, 2009 organizational session the Chief Clerk read an extensive list of House bills and several resolutions (House Bill 10 through at least House Bill 124 and additional HB 2-series items); the measures were read for the first time and referred to the Rules Committee.
The Chief Clerk read a broad list of bills and resolutions during the House’s organizational session on Jan. 26, 2009. The slate included a wide range of measures — from property and tax provisions to public safety, education and administrative changes — and several joint and concurrent resolutions.
The House took the introductory reading of the bills (which included, among others, House Bill 10 on condominium and community association provisions; House Bill 20 on repeal of certain income tax credits; House Bill 29 on personal property tax amendments; and a long series of HB 2 items related to budget and policy topics). All introduced measures were read for the first time and referred to the Rules Committee for further consideration.
No final action or debate on individual bills occurred during the introduction; the transcript records the bills as being referred to the Rules Committee for the normal committee process. Members were informed that the bills would be read for the first time and sent to committee under House rules.
