House amends and passes bill to rebalance Utah State Railroad Museum Authority board

The Utah House amended and passed House Bill 70 on Feb. 6 to rebalance the geographic composition of the Utah State Railroad Museum Authority board.
Representative Jeremy Peterson, sponsor, said stakeholders in Weber and Box Elder counties sought changes after the board identified an imbalance of representation. Representative Menlove relayed constituent concerns from Box Elder County and proposed an amendment to add two Weber County representatives — specifically naming the Corinne Historical Society and Ogden Union Station — where currently Box Elder representation was predominant.
Representative Perry offered the amendment to change a single 'individual' to '2 individuals' and to include the Corinne Historical Society and Ogden Union Station. The sponsor indicated he was amenable, and the House adopted the amendment. Representative Peterson said the change would help the authority better reflect regional railway heritage and asked for support.
Following floor debate the House voted to pass the amended bill 72-0. The bill will be transmitted to the Senate.
