House Bill 1,002 (practicing law without a license amendments), explained briefly by Representative Dean, clarifies that, with appropriate safeguards and consultation, outside attorneys may be used by legislative investigative committees; the House passed the measure 71–0.
House Bill 1,003 (private investigator regulation act amendments) allows the investigative committee to obtain limited-use private-investigator licenses for out-of-state investigators hired to assist during the time of the committee’s investigation; the House passed the bill 70–2.
Both bills were transmitted to the Senate for its consideration.
