The Utah House of Representatives moved and approved a motion to adjourn the first special session of the 60th Legislature sine die on July 17, 2013. Representative Dee moved, 'I move that the first special session of the sixtieth legislature adjourn sine die.' The motion was put to a voice vote; members answered 'aye' and the motion passed.
Earlier, a committee appointed by the Speaker to 'wait upon the governor' reported back. Representative Derek Brown relayed the governor's message to both chambers: 'The governor asked that the committee convey to each chamber that he has no further business to bring before the legislature.' That report provided the basis for the House's motion to adjourn.
The Speaker also appointed a committee to notify the governor and the Senate of the House's readiness to adjourn and directed Sandy Tenney to read, revise, and make minor corrections to the House journal and to certify the bound copy as the accurate record of the proceedings of the special session.
The House concluded without recorded roll-call tallies in the transcript for the adjournment motion; the action was resolved by voice vote and the Speaker closed the session.
