Utah House adjourns first special session after Senate transmits correctional-facility site resolution

The Utah House of Representatives adjourned the first special session of the 60th Legislature on Aug. 19, 2015, after receiving a message from the Senate transmitting Second Substitute HCR 101, a concurrent resolution approving a site for new state correctional facilities.
Leslie MacLean, identified in the communication as secretary of the Senate, informed the chamber that the Senate had passed the resolution and transmitted it to the House for the Speaker’s signature. The Speaker said the resolution would be signed and referred to staff for enrollment.
The Speaker appointed Representatives Dawn Ibsen, John Nottwell and Patrice Aron to meet with a like committee from the Senate to notify the governor that the House had completed its business and was prepared to adjourn. The Speaker also directed Chief Clerk Sandy Tenney to read, revise and certify the Daily House Journal and to certify the indexed and bound copy as the accurate record of the proceedings of the first special session of the 60th Legislature.
Senator Jenkins reported that the Senate had completed its business and was ready to adjourn. After those notifications, Majority Leader Representative James A. Dunnigan moved to adjourn the session. The Speaker called the motion nondebatable, held a voice vote and said the motion carried. Earlier in the session, Dunnigan had also moved to 'cease to saunter,' a procedural motion that was carried by voice vote.
