Utah House approves law-enforcement reporting expansion for SWAT and armored-vehicle deployments

"In the absence of good information, people tend to make up weird stuff," Representative Hutchings said in presenting the bill, adding that the change simply adds two fields to reports agencies already file at year-end so the public and lawmakers have reliable data.
The sponsor said the addition is administrative and incremental because the reporting mechanism already exists; the bill would require agencies to record whether a tactical team was deployed and whether an armored vehicle was deployed and to include related information.
Voting opened and closed; the House passed HB 390 60–0. The bill will be transmitted to the Utah Senate for further consideration.
