A series of personal-privilege remarks occupied much of the floor time. Representative Brad King thanked colleagues and staff, offered good wishes and lighthearted remarks. Representative Cox, Representative Powell and Representative Oda each spoke briefly to thank staff and colleagues and reflect on their service.
Representative Brown delivered a longer reflection on about 30 years of involvement in state politics, recalled historic debates and urged colleagues to read both the U.S. and Utah constitutions before swearing oaths. Several speakers emphasized the value of staff and the personal relationships formed while serving. The remarks were personal and reflective; no legislative proposals or votes were made as part of those comments.
