House honors Utah Valley University president, Huntsman legacy and recognizes UHN anniversary

House Concurrent Resolution 16 honored Matthew S. Holland, president of Utah Valley University. Representative Dawe and colleagues praised Holland’s leadership, citing UVU’s enrollment growth and community engagement. The Clerk recorded HCR 16 as passing the House with 72 yes votes and 0 no votes.
The House also considered HCR 20 honoring John M. Huntsman Sr. Representative Gibson and others recounted philanthropic work by the Huntsman family and described the Huntsman Cancer Institute’s role in funding research and treatment. Multiple members shared personal recollections of patients and family members assisted by the institute. The Clerk announced HCR 20 passed the House with 71 yes votes and 0 no votes.
Members thanked the guests in the gallery and returned to the legislative calendar after the ceremonial remarks.
