Following the advise-and-consent business, senators made brief announcements and recognitions.
Senator Beatty invited members (and spouses) to attend a special opportunity for the Anne Frank exhibit with a short formal program and buffet beginning at 6:00 p.m. The invitation asked for members' support and attendance.
The presiding officer announced that a planned Lake Powell boat outing could not proceed as scheduled because the boats could not be arranged and the company had changed ownership; the presiding officer said the trip may be rescheduled for September.
A speaker introduced Senator Chuck Peterson and noted that he had been selected by the Provo Chamber of Commerce to receive an outstanding citizen award. Senators also expressed appreciation for Senator Steele's role in organizing a large, successful 7,500-delegate conference.
After announcements, the presiding officer confirmed the governor had no further business, the Senate was informed the committee would report back, and the body adjourned.
