Finlayson, reporting for the Energy, Natural Resources and Agriculture Committee, told the Senate the authority had ‘‘looked at it and, have concluded that it doesn't make that much sense,’’ and that ‘‘it was their recommendation that the Great Salt Lake Authority, at least in its present form, be repealed.’’ Senator Lane Beatty, who sponsored the bill, said the original body had been intended as a temporary study and argued repeal was appropriate now that the study was finished.
After adoption of the committee report and a motion to consider the bill under suspension of rules, the Senate recorded a roll call showing 26 ayes, no nays and three absent. The clerk announced the bill will be sent to the House for further action.
