Utah Senate urges citizens to plant trees in 1991 with scouts recognized

Senator Peterson said the resolution also recognizes scout troops’ conservation work and recommends that Utahns take opportunities in 1991 to plant trees and protect resources. Under suspension of the rules the Senate considered the resolution read for second and third readings and approved final passage. A subsequent roll call showed 24 ayes, no nays and five senators absent; the resolution will be signed by the president in open session and forwarded to interested parties.
The vote was procedural and nonbinding; the resolution’s passage signals legislative support for state conservation and for civic groups, including scout troops, engaged in tree-planting activities.
