The Utah Senate on Feb. 25 used a suspension-of-rules procedure to advance a large group of bills the majority described as noncontroversial and transmitted them to the House with a single recorded vote.
Senate leadership and committee chairs read a list of bills the chamber agreed did not face negative votes, then asked the clerk to record one roll call that would apply across the list. The clerk recorded 29 ayes and no nays on the grouped vote as read for the record; several bills were removed from the list after objections and taken back for separate consideration.
The bulk action was presented as a time‑saving measure. Senators who objected asked that some bills be withdrawn and handled individually; leadership accommodated those requests before the final group vote. The Senate Journal will list each bill and the recorded vote as part of the official record.
What passed in the group will appear individually in the formal record; the chamber noted the group move was limited to bills that had not previously received negative votes during committee action. The Senate adjourned later that day until 9 a.m. the next morning.
