Senate passes school-building funding bill after hours of debate on exemptions and criteria

Senate Bill 1, a measure to provide dedicated funding for critical public elementary and secondary school building needs, passed the Utah State Senate on March 31, 1993, by a roll-call vote of 25 ayes, three nays and one absent. Lawmakers debated the bill at length in a first special session called by Governor Michael O. Leavitt.
