Senate trims fiscal note and expands legislative membership for Information Technology Commission

The Senate then moved to consider HB 248 under suspension of the rules because the adjusted fiscal effect was below $10,000 and subsequently passed the measure on the floor.
Proponents said the commission would serve as a review panel for future technology matters and that adding legislative members from each house would provide more oversight and coordination. The floor record indicates the amended fiscal amounts will be sent back to the House for further consideration as part of the enrolled bill process.
The bill passed by recorded vote after the floor amendments were adopted; senators who asked questions during the exchange received clarifying answers from the sponsor and the committee chair. The matter will proceed to the House with the adjusted fiscal note.
No implementation schedule was laid out on the floor beyond the standard enrollment and transmittal process.
