Senate passes a slate of bills and resolutions; several measures go to the House

On Feb. 6 the Senate approved multiple bills by voice or recorded votes—including SB 78, SB 8, SB 70 and others—sending them to the House or advancing them on the reading calendar. Most were approved unanimously or by large margins.

Senate Bill 78 (federal mandate review task force) was called and reported passed on the floor. Senate Bill 8 (Employment Security Act amendments) passed by a recorded vote reported as 26 ayes, 3 absent. Senate Bill 70 (financial institution amendments) likewise passed with 26 ayes and 3 absent and was ordered transmitted to the House for further consideration.
Other measures acted on included Senate Bill 99 (construction contracting licensing amendments), SCR 1 (technology-enhanced schools resolution) and SCR 3 (higher-education strategic planning resolution); several were placed on the consent calendar or moved to third-reading calendars after committee reports and adoption motions.
