Senate presents citations honoring public‑service, arts and educational milestones
Summary
The Senate recognized Special Arts winners, honored retiring Public Safety Commissioner Doug Boudreau, and issued commemorative citations for the Huntsman World Senior Games and Southern Utah University's centennial.
During the Feb. 20–21 floor session the Utah Senate paused for several recognitions and citations.
Special Arts students from across the state were introduced and congratulated for winning awards in the statewide high school art show; winners and several works were noted as being displayed in the rotunda.
The Senate presented an official citation honoring Doug Douglas Bord*rello (transcript spelling varies), retiring commissioner of the Utah Department of Public Safety, and several senators offered personal remarks about his leadership and years of service. Commissioner Boudreau accepted the recognition and thanked the body and his department.
The chamber also read commemorative citations welcoming and recognizing the Huntsman World Senior Games and the Huntsman family's support, and celebrated Southern Utah University's centennial with congratulatory remarks to the institution's leadership and alumni.
These recognitions were largely ceremonial but reflect the legislature's role in public acknowledgment of community service, culture and education.
