Utah Senate honors Hof, Germany delegation as Consul General praises state ties

The Utah State Senate on Jan. 19 read and unanimously adopted an official legislative citation reaffirming the 41‑year sister‑city relationship between Hof, Germany and Ogden, Utah and welcomed a visiting Hof delegation taking part in Ogden’s tenth annual winter festival.
Senator Hall introduced the visitors and asked the Senate to adopt the citation “on this body's behalf.” The clerk read the citation reaffirming the partnership and welcoming the Hof delegation; the Senate approved the citation by voice vote and declared the adoption unanimous.
Rudrik Henoch, Consul General of Germany in San Francisco, addressed the Senate and praised the civic and cultural ties he said bind Utah and Germany. “I have come here for the second time, and I really try to come as often as possible,” Henoch said, and noted strong interest in German‑U.S. exchanges across Utah’s universities, civic groups and host families. He told senators that about 70 people from Hof were in Utah for the festival and emphasized that “this partnership…is so full of life” because of sustained dedication on both sides.
Senator Hall invited senators to attend the Ogden Winter Festival and recognized local organizers and exchange contributors, including Scott Sneddon, for past cultural exhibits in Germany and Utah. The citation copies were to be presented to the visiting delegation and to Ogden officials as a formal expression of the Legislature’s appreciation.
The Senate moved on after the brief ceremony; no formal policy decisions or appropriations resulted from the recognition.
Next steps: the visitors will attend festival events in Ogden over the next three days while legislative business continued in Salt Lake City.
