Senate Passes Consent Calendar, Reads Communications and Advances Multiple Bills

The Senate adopted the daily journal, read communications from the governor and House, passed multiple consent-calendar House bills, and advanced a set of committee recommendations; several items were placed on second- and third-reading calendars.
At the start of the Feb. 10 floor session the Senate adopted the journal for the nineteenth day on a voice vote after a motion by Senator Jones. The Secretary read communications from the governor announcing signed measures (including HCR 5) and from the House transmitting a series of passed bills for the Senate to consider.
The chamber moved through the consent calendar and recorded unanimous votes on a number of House bills (the president declared the unanimous vote of the senators present and reported, for example, 25 ayes and 4 absent on several consent items). The Senate also placed several committee-recommended bills on the second-reading calendar after standing committee reports.
On third reading the Senate passed a first substitute to Senate Bill 105, a grant for the Eccles Community Art Center to restore safety code and expand space; the bill will be returned to the House for further action. The Senate also handled routine committee assignment announcements and closed the session with scheduling and adjournment motions.
