SALT LAKE CITY — The Utah State Senate on March 4, 1998 moved a large second‑reading calendar forward, approving bills on water planning, redevelopment financing, housing trust funds and multiple public‑safety and administrative matters and returning amended measures to the House for final signatures.
Senators passed House Bill 418, the Water Conservancy Plan measure, after Senator Dimitri described the bill as a requirement that "all water conservancy districts and water distribution districts develop plans and present [them] to the State Board of Water Resources," which will then recommend action to the Legislature’s Natural Resources committee. The clerk announced House Bill 418 passed with 22 aye votes, 2 nay votes and 5 absent. The bill was transmitted for the president’s signature and return to the House.
