Senate staff read a bill assignment list for Feb. 4, 1998, listing Senate and House measures and the committees to which they were referred. Items announced included Senate Bill 149 (Landscape Architect Licensing Act), Senate Bill 148 (Evaluation of Provisional Educators), Senate Bill 146 (nursing regulation interstate compact), SJR 3 (resolution amending judicial nomination process) and Senate Bill 151 (property tax exemption for veterans), among others. Several House bills and resolutions were also assigned to committees as printed with fiscal notes.
During a personal-privilege moment earlier in the session, a senator introduced an AP political science class from Copper Hills High School and their teacher, Dennis Bridal, and asked colleagues to recognize the students. The presiding officer also noted a lunch sponsored by the Senate Third House in Room 305 and encouraged members from both parties to attend.
The presiding officer reminded senators that the chamber planned to move quickly through the third-reading calendar the next day and urged sponsors of house bills to be prepared to carry them on the floor. The Senate then approved a motion to adjourn until 10 a.m. the following morning by voice vote.
