"He helped both sides of the aisle," President Beatty said in urging confirmation. Several members recalled Mantis’s committee work and praised his judgment and experience.
The Senate conducted a roll-call vote and recorded the confirmation. Senators emphasized the importance of the Board of Regents and the difficult issues the board faces. President Beatty thanked Mantis and the body for its consideration.
The appointment was transmitted to the House as required by legislative procedure and will be entered into the formal records of the Board of Regents.
