Senate moves multiple committee reports and several bills to third reading or onward to the House

During its Feb. 16 floor session the Utah Senate completed a high volume of routine and substantive business: adopting rules and standing committee reports, placing numerous House bills on referral, and moving several bills forward on the second and third reading calendars.
Key procedural and voting actions recorded on the floor included adoption of the Rules Committee report assigning bills to standing committees; placement of numerous committee‑recommended bills on the consent calendar; passage of House Bill 108 to third reading (clerk corrected the tally to 26 ayes, 3 absent); and floor passage or advancement of first substitute Senate Bill 49 (aviation fuel tax), first substitute SB71 (adoption tax credit), SB117 (guardian ad litem amendment), and SB152 (medical expenses of county inmates), the latter of which was referred to the House for further action.
Multiple bills were circled for additional review (e.g., SB70) and the Senate adjourned until 9:30 a.m. the following morning. The Senate also accepted a rules committee assignment report referring SB214 (mobile telecommunications taxation) to Revenue & Taxation.
