Senate recognizes students and trainers from Utah Emergency Medical Training Program

The Utah Senate paused floor business on Jan. 28, 2002 to present an official citation recognizing the Utah Emergency Medical Training Council and students who performed lifesaving first-aid and cardiopulmonary-resuscitation measures.
The citation, read on the floor, commended the Utah Emergency Medical Training Council and partner agencies for developing bystander training and emphasized the value of community first-aid skills. The clerk read the citation language and named several students as examples of trained bystanders who had rendered emergency care. Senators congratulated the students and trainers and invited them to be recognized from the gallery.
Senators described the program as an important public-safety training effort that partners the Department of Health, the State Board of Education and local schools. The citation urged continuation of the program and commended participating high-school students and coaches for voluntary participation in life-saving training.
