Utah Senate confirms two gubernatorial appointments, hears nominees’ remarks

After the confirmations, the Senate convened as a Committee of the Whole to hear brief remarks from the nominees. Stephen L. Roth thanked the Senate for its confidence and said he was "committed to fulfill the responsibilities that come with this commitment." Robert L. Morgan said he "loves the natural resources of the state of Utah" and described water as one of the state's gems, saying he looked forward to meeting the challenges of the Department of Natural Resources.
President Mansfield congratulated the nominees and welcomed their families to the chamber. The confirmations were announced on the floor and the clerk recorded the affirmative roll-call tallies before the body returned to its regular order of business.
Next steps: Both appointments will proceed as required by law; the Senate formally transmitted the successful confirmations and the nominees will assume their duties under the terms announced by the governor.
