Salt Lake City — The Utah Senate on Jan. 28 resolved into a committee of the whole to receive Pamela Atkinson and formally adopted House Concurrent Resolution 3 honoring her decades of community service.
Senator Stevenson moved the body into a committee of the whole so Ms. Atkinson could speak; she introduced family members and described her continued focus on homelessness and school‑based prevention. "I am most appreciative of the fact that you've listened to what I and many others have had to say," Atkinson said, adding her next project would work with the Salt Lake School District on preventing homelessness among children.
Multiple senators offered tribute. Senator Knudson praised her substantive testimony on health issues and Senator Hilliard described her as someone whose talks leave audiences "spellbound." The Senate later dissolved the committee of the whole and, under suspension of the rules, read HCR 3 for second and third times and recorded final passage (26 ayes, 0 nays, 3 absent). The resolution will be signed in open session and presented to Ms. Atkinson and representatives of Intermountain Healthcare.
