Sen. Hilliard introduced SGR 11, a resolution honoring O. William 'Bill' Asplund for 28 years of service to the Utah Legislature. The resolution recited Asplund’s biography — born April 29, 1939 in Alberta, Canada; graduate work and long service in legislative research, counsel and staffing of numerous committees — and called out his patient and steady contributions to the legislative process.
The Senate dissolved into the Committee of the Whole for remarks. Asplund thanked the body, spoke briefly about his years on the job and his family, and senators from across the chamber offered personal recollections of his professionalism and mentorship. The body recessed the Committee of the Whole and returned to business after the tributes.
