- Senate Bill 30 (Medical Benefits Recovery Act amendment): The Senate concurred in the House amendment after the sponsor said the bill was worked out with legal stakeholders and the department. The roll-call was 25 aye, 0 nay, 4 absent; the bill will go back to the House for the speaker’s signature.
- Senate Bill 39 (state and school recognition of Cesar Chavez Day): Senator James Evans presented the measure, clarifying that allowing school districts to close for the day is permissive and districts must still meet instructional-day requirements; the bill passed to the third-reading calendar (18 aye, 3 nay, 8 absent).
