Senate issues citation honoring statewide DUI enforcement effort

Senator Wadsworth read an official Senate citation honoring the Utah Department of Public Safety, Mothers Against Drunk Driving, DUI HOPE and the Salt Lake County Multi-Agency Task Force for their efforts during the campaign that ran from Dec. 19, 2003, through Jan. 4, 2004. The citation noted the removal of 190 impaired drivers during that period and praised collaborative enforcement efforts.
Senator Walker and other senators presented framed citations to agency representatives and thanked officers for their service. ‘‘You are my heroes, and I thank you for everything that you do,’’ Senator Walker said, addressing law-enforcement personnel in the gallery.
What’s next: The Senate adjourned after additional announcements; no legislative action resulted from the citation itself.
