Senate adopts committee assignments, moves multiple bills to third-reading calendar and adjourns

SALT LAKE CITY — In addition to individual bill debate, the Utah Senate on Jan. 27 adopted a rules committee report reassigning a batch of House and Senate bills to standing committees, approved committee reports, and cleared multiple measures to the third-reading calendar.
Committee chair Lyle Hilliard reported assignments to committees including business and labor; government operations; health and human services; judiciary; natural resources; revenue; transportation; and workforce. The Senate adopted the recommendation and Senators were reminded to prioritize moving Senate-originated bills to the House.
The Senate also "circled" (reserved) several bills and completed roll-call votes advancing SB 16, SB 21, SB 34, SB 72, SB 73 and SB 84 to third reading at various recorded tallies. The chamber voted to adjourn and will reconvene at 10 a.m. Wednesday.
