Senate advances several bills on third reading, including property-rights and identity-theft measures

Senate Bill 30, an amendment to the Medical Benefits Recovery Act that clarifies state definitions to align with federal law and strengthens the Department of Recovery Services’ ability to collect from third parties, passed with 28 ayes, no nays and one absence. Sponsors noted a positive fiscal note for the measure.
Clerks announced roll-call results on the floor; the bills will proceed to the House for consideration, as is customary following Senate final passage.
