Senate OKs bill to expand Auditor General access to records

Wadipes said the change ‘‘allows the Auditor General better access and ability to do the job that he’s been charged to do.’’
No senators asked questions during floor debate and Senator Wadipes called the question. A roll call vote was held and the president announced that SB 20 received 27 yes votes, 0 nay votes and 2 absent, and the bill was referred to the House for further action.
The passage authorizes additional record access for the legislative auditor in the course of audits; the Senate debate focused on the bill’s practical effect for auditors rather than on changes to statutory standards in the abstract.
