Senator Stevenson introduced two floor amendments to coordinate related open-meetings bills and to remove a provision about excluding certain subcommittees from coverage for interim consideration. He explained that amendment 2 addresses technical language and that the most important part defers some subcommittee coverage issues to interim study at the League of Cities and Towns’ request.
Senator Thomas asked technical questions about executive-session location requirements and criminal-penalty language ("knowingly or intentionally" vs. "knowingly and intentionally"); the floor indicated those coordination and drafting issues would be reconciled with related House Bill 16 and staff will check language choice. The Senate recorded 26 yes votes, 0 nays, with 3 absent for second substitute House Bill 14; it will be read for the third time.
