Senate delays mechanics‑lien changes to May 1, passes SB 5002 unanimously

Jenkins told colleagues that the change is limited to the implementation date and that the delay will give the industry and affected parties time to address operational concerns. "They had some real problems with this," Jenkins said of the stakeholder group; he noted the legislature agreed to the delay to make sure "this bill works for all the people in the industry."
The Senate considered SB 5002 under suspension of the rules and held a roll call. The clerk announced the result: 27 yes, 0 nay, with 2 absent. The bill passed the Senate and was referred to the House for further action.
