Senate adopts rules committee report, assigns multiple bills to second reading and committees

The Utah Senate on the floor accepted the Rules Committee report and placed a list of Senate Bills on the second-reading calendar and into standing committees.
Rules Committee chair Margaret Dayton read the committee's recommendations, which included sending SB 13, 14, 15, 16, 17, 18, 19, 20, 10, 22, 23, 24, 26, 28, 29, 21, 11, 104 and 30 to the second-reading calendar. Dayton also recommended assignment of numerous other bills to standing committees such as business and labor; education; government operations and political subdivisions; health and human services; judiciary, law enforcement and criminal justice; natural resources, agriculture and environment; revenue and taxation; transportation, public utilities and technology; and workforce services and community and economic development.
A senator moved to adopt the report, and the Senate approved the motion by voice vote. The chamber did not debate the merits of the individual bills at this time; the action was procedural, placing the listed measures on the calendar or in committees for future hearings.
The Senate proceeded with other brief items, including a personal-privilege update from Senator Maine on her "women in the trades" outreach and a motion to adjourn until 10:00 a.m. the following day, which also passed by voice vote.
