Senate pays tribute to Workers' Compensation Fund; WCF leaders describe safety and training programs

The Utah Senate honored the Workers' Compensation Fund (WCF) with SCR 2, a concurrent resolution recognizing the fund's workplace‑safety programs and community outreach.
Senator Maine introduced WCF leadership, including Ray Pickup, identified on the floor as WCF's president and chief executive officer, and other executives. WCF representatives told the Senate about public‑facing safety campaigns, multilingual outreach, on‑demand seminars, free safety trainings and partnerships with industry and trade groups. The resolution text recited WCF's training statistics and scholarship efforts: it cites, for example, more than 1,418 inspections, 3,828 consultations, 207 seminars and 861 on‑site training classes in a referenced period and training 18,139 people; the resolution also notes scholarship and grant support cited in WCF materials.
Senators praised WCF for workplace safety outreach and for partnering with the Rocky Mountain Center for Occupational and Environmental Health. Senator Maine moved the chamber into the Committee of the Whole to receive the WCF delegation; later the resolution was placed for further consideration and advanced toward third reading.
The Senate thanked the visiting executives and expressed support for continued safety programs. No formal appropriation was recorded on the floor in connection with SCR 2; the resolution is a recognition measure rather than an appropriation.
The concurrent resolution recognizes WCF's work and records the Senate's appreciation; staff will carry the resolution forward for enrollment and the guests were publicly acknowledged on the Senate floor.
