The law includes a window that permits renewals in the two fiscal years before an authorization expires; the district’s current referendum was approved by voters in 2017 and is scheduled to expire after taxes payable in 2027.
After public comment and board discussion about timing, caps and fiscal continuity, the board waived a formal reading of the resolution and adopted it. The clerk was authorized to submit a copy of the resolution to the Minnesota Department of Education and to county auditors as required by law.
Roll call recorded the vote as unanimous. The resolution states the renewal will be applicable for 10 years beginning with taxes payable in 2028, subject to statutory provisions and any future lawful changes.
