Utah Senate passes a package of bills and resolutions in a House day floor session

SCR4 (wildlife enhancement) passed by a roll-call vote of 27-0 with two absent. SJR7, a proposed constitutional amendment to remove a partisan appointment requirement for State Tax Commission members, passed and was transmitted to the House.
On policy measures, the Senate approved Senate Bill 19 on appointment and qualifications for State Tax Commission members, and first-substitute SB124 (Financial Institution and Services Amendments), which replaces specific trade group names with a commissioner-approved "bona fide trade association." First-substitute SB38 creating a Snow College concurrent education program passed, as did SB98 providing paraeducator funding. Senators also approved SB140 to pay the state’s share of advanced placement (AP) exam fees for qualifying students after a requirement that students apply for exam discounts; the Senate recorded the vote 26-1 on SB140.
House measures received similar floor attention. House Bill 10 (injured worker reemployment amendments) was uncircled, debated briefly, and read for a third time, receiving recorded "yea" votes. Other House bills that were read or advanced included HB13 (rural waste disposal), HB21 (system of care for minors in state custody), HB24 (insurance-related amendments), HB35 (health-data authority reauthorization), and HB57 (shelter euthanasia amendments), which also passed on third reading after debate.
