Senate processes dozen other bills; some bills circled or tabled for fiscal review
Summary
Beyond the headline items, the Senate moved many other House and Senate bills (insurance modifications, educator licensing and background-check consolidations, retirement employment task force, wildland-fire ammunition permit clarifications) often by voice or recorded roll call; several bills were circled for amendments or tabled pending fiscal note review.
Throughout the evening the Senate lifted, circled, amended and passed a variety of measures spanning insurance modifications (third substitute HB 24 with an amendment about collision insurance for transportation-network drivers), educator licensing and background-check consolidation (HB 124), teacher salary supplement amendments (HB 203 second substitute, later tabled on third for fiscal review), wildland-fire and tracer-ammunition permitting (HB 212 with amendments), and numerous others. Committee reports were accepted and numerous communications from the House placed bills on the concurrence calendar for subsequent action.
Several bills carrying fiscal notes were intentionally tabled on third reading for additional consideration (for example, the teacher salary supplement second substitute was tabled after senators requested updated fiscal analysis), and the Senate recalled SB 238 briefly from enrolling to make an additional technical amendment (SEG 5580–5596). The chamber adjourned for the night with a plan to reconvene the next morning at 9 a.m., and leaders reminded members about end-of-session budget lists and family events planned for the final night.
The evening combined rapid passage of many routine items with careful handling of high-fiscal-impact bills and several policy matters that generated extended floor discussion.
