Utah Senate quickly consents to dozens of gubernatorial appointments in special session

The Utah State Senate in its May 2016 special session read a long list of nominations from Governor Gary R. Herbert and consented to the appointments by roll call.
The list read into the record included reappointments and new nominees for the Great Salt Lake Advisory Council, the Water Quality Board, the Crime Victims Reparations and Assistance Board, the Permanent Community Impact Fund Board, the State Tax Commission (Robert P. Pero), the Transportation Commission (Lou W. Kramer), the Utah Digital Health Service Commission, the Health Facility Committee, the Health Data Committee and trustees for Southern Utah University, Snow College, and the Utah College of Applied Technology among others.
Senator Stephen H. Urquhart, chair of the Senate Education Confirmation Committee, reported favorable recommendations for Scott L. Tyer and Donald G. Foote Jr. to the Utah College of Applied Technology Board and the School and Institutional Trust Lands Board of Trustees respectively. Committee chairs for transportation and revenue also reported favorable recommendations for Lou W. Kramer and Robert P. Pero.
The Senate recorded the consent vote with the majority voting aye; the clerk announced the appointments had received the necessary 'yea' votes for confirmation and the appointments were approved.
Next steps: The appointments are now recorded as confirmed by the Senate and will be processed according to established enrollment and notification procedures.
