Sponsor Senator Bramble said the amendments were intended to fine-tune notification steps and related procedures; he moved the amendment and the Senate approved the amendment before calling the question on the amended bill.
Senator Brehival read an email from the Utah Medical Association indicating the association’s support for the clarifying amendment, saying the UMA’s changes matched the association’s proposed language and asking the Senate to approve the amendment publicly. The UMA wrote that with the amendment it “supports this bill and appreciates your sponsorship” to improve notice requirements in health-care debt collection.
