Senate moves a broad slate of House bills and committee reports on consent
Summary
Senators adopted numerous standing-committee reports, placed many bills on the consent calendar and approved multiple substitute bills by unanimous or large margins during routine floor action.
On Feb. 20 the Utah Senate approved a substantial set of committee reports and house-passed measures on the consent calendar. Committees reported favorably on a wide range of bills — from Route 6 special designations and school-district matters to criminal justice and natural-resources measures — and senators moved to adopt those reports by voice vote.
Several measures were readied for third reading or were circled for later action, including housekeeping substitutions and policy items that had committee support. The Rules Committee assigned bills to standing committees and several bills were placed on the calendar for second or third reading, while many noncontroversial items advanced without recorded opposition.
The consent action helped clear floor time for the larger debated items later in the session.
