The Utah Senate consented to Gov. Gary R. Herbert’s appointment of Adam Maurer as a judge of the Third District Court.
The governor transmitted Maurer’s appointment in writing to the Senate on Feb. 14, and the Senate Judicial Confirmation Committee reported a favorable recommendation. Todd Wyler, the committee chair, told the Senate his panel “report[ed] a favorable recommendation that Mr. Adam Maurer be confirmed to the position of judge of the Third District Court” and the committee voted unanimously to recommend confirmation.
Maurer addressed the Senate and thanked members, the governor and his family. “I appreciate your votes confirming me today as a judge of the Third District Court for the state of Utah,” Maurer said, expressing gratitude to his wife and to colleagues and mentors who supported his nomination.
The consent action follows the committee’s endorsement and completes the Senate’s role in the appointment process; Maurer acknowledged the governor and staff involved in the nomination and the committee’s evaluation during his remarks.
The Senate record shows the committee’s favorable report and Maurer’s public remarks on the Senate floor; the transcript does not record any further contested debate or an alternate nominee.
