SALT LAKE CITY — The Utah Senate spent the day moving a long list of bills through final and concurrence stages, approving supplemental budgets, policy cleanups and changes to several codes. Lawmakers used suspension motions frequently to accelerate final passage; many items will be returned to the House for the speaker’s signature.
Among the measures approved, the Senate passed the first substitute of Senate Bill 2 (supplemental appropriations) and first substitute House Bill 3 (additional supplemental appropriations), clearing late adjustments to the current and upcoming fiscal years. Both budget measures passed with wide margins (first substitute SB2: 26 yea, 0 nay; first substitute HB3: 26 yea, 1 nay). The chamber also approved HB181 (tax credit amendments), HB181 passed 24–1, and multiple other fiscal bills were moved across the calendar under suspension.
