Senate passes four base budget bills for higher education, economic development, infrastructure and veterans

The Utah Senate on Jan. 26 passed four House-originated base budget bills after suspending normal rules to expedite consideration.
House Bill 1, the higher education base budget, was presented by Senator Grover as "the higher education based budget of just over $5,000,000,000." Under suspension of the rules the Senate passed HB1 by voice/roll call (26 yeas, 0 nays, 3 absent). The measure will be signed by the President and returned to the House for the Speaker's signature.
