Key roll-call outcomes reported on the floor: First Substitute Senate Bill 121 (education achievement program) passed (22 yeas); First Substitute Senate Bill 176 (childcare services pilot) passed (25 yeas); Second Substitute Senate Bill 159 (school discipline) passed (26 yeas); Second Substitute Senate Bill 181 (continuation of medication-assisted treatment in prisons) was reported passed and will be sent to the House; First Substitute Senate Bill 215 (motor vehicle consumer data protection) passed (22 yeas); Senate Bill 222 (egg production implementation delay) passed (22 yeas); Second Substitute Senate Bill 154 (independent entities oversight) was brought up and passed; Second Substitute Senate Bill 208 (housing and transit reinvestment zone amendments) was substituted and the substitute passed.
The Senate also read a long list of House-passed bills for referral to committee and placed many items on the second-reading calendar. Several bills were circled for further work, including the fifth substitute for SB161 (energy authority) and the medical cannabis cleanup bill, as senators sought to resolve contentious language.
This session adjourned for a recess and will reconvene with items returned from committee and proposals revised as indicated on the calendar.
